FOUR TIGER HAT TRICKS LEAD ONU TO VICTORY OVER CALUMET IN CONFERENCE OPENER

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) women's soccer team kicked off conference play in style with an 18-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday. The Tigers put on an offensive clinic to secure their first win of the season after facing some early challenges.

ONU opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with Skylar Bos finding the back of the net, assisted by Melea Miller. The floodgates opened from there, as Hannah Dela Vega doubled the lead just 25 seconds later. Bos added to her tally with a penalty kick in the 4th minute before completing her hat trick in the 6th minute. Miller added her own in the 9th minute to extend the lead to 5-0. By the 11th minute, Marisa Lopez scored, assisted by Emma Daniels, before Miller struck again in the 12th minute, assisted by Lopez. Mia Kelly followed with a goal in the 13th minute, and Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano added another in the 17th minute to make it 9-0. ONU showed no signs of slowing down as Kaylee Evers scored in the 24th minute. Racadio-Kahoohanohano completed her brace with a goal in the 27th minute, before completing a hat trick in the 32nd minute. giving ONU a 12-0 advantage. Evers netted her second goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by Rebekah Delia, before Arabelle Laurent closed out the first half scoring with a goal in the 45th minute, leaving the Tigers up 14-0 at halftime.

In the second half, ONU continued their offensive dominance. Miller completed her hat trick in the 66th minute, assisted by Bos. Daniels joined the scoresheet in the 76th minute, assisted by Miller, to push the lead to 16-0. Evers completed her hat trick in the 81st minute before Racadio-Kahoohanohano wrapped up the scoring with her fourth goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by Evers, sealing the 18-0 victory for ONU.

Head coach Bill Bahr praised his team's efforts after the win, saying, "Our team has had a lot of adversity in the early portions of the season. It's great to start our conference play with a win, and we're excited to move forward. We're proud of where our locker room is at and the mentality of the team going forward."

Despite the lopsided score, Calumet showed heart and determination as they continue to work out the kinks as a fresh team and find their footing.

 

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will continue their conference journey as they head on the road to face the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University on September 25th at 5 p.m. CST. ONU looks to build on their momentum and carry their winning mentality further into the season.
