EDWARDS SCORES 33 AS OLIVET OVERPOWERS MARIAN

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Olivet Nazarene University defeated Marian University 92-74 on Tuesday at the PE Center. The Tigers controlled the game with a dominant 52 points in the paint, led by Eli Edwards who poured in 33 points on 16-for-24 shooting.

Olivet opened the game with a quick Keagen Holder layup just five seconds after the tip, and the Tigers never looked back. After a couple of Marian turnovers and Edwards buckets, Olivet held a 10-point advantage at the 12:57 mark. Marian climbed back in the game and cut the Olivet lead to three with 3:25 left in the half, but a Dylan Fey layup and jump shots by Caleb Corro and Andrew Bennett pushed the lead back up to nine for the Tigers at the end of the first half. 

Olivet maintained their dominance in the second half, extending their lead to 21 points at one point. Holder initiated the scoring with a jumper, and Edwards contributed once again with a three-point play early in the half. Mason Wood also added to the scoring for the Tigers by drilling four 3-pointers in the second half. The second half concluded with Olivet outscoring Marian 50-41, bringing the total score to 92-74 in favor of the Tigers.

Edwards dominated the game with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Wood contributed 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting from deep, and added eight rebounds to his stat line. Landen Hale pitched in 14 points of his own, while Holder delivered a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10 assists. Dylan Fey also hit double-figures, scoring 11 points and grabbing six boards.

Olivet improves to 1-1 overall, while Marian drops to 0-2 on the season.

The Tigers head to Grand Rapids, Mich. for their next matchup on Saturday, Nov. 8 against Cornerstone.
