OLIVET NAZARENE DEFEATS CALUMET 19-0

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (8-2-1, 3-0-0) dominated Calumet (IN) (0-11-0, 0-4-0) with a decisive 19-0 victory on Saturday at East Chicago Central, as Olivet Nazarene recorded 42 shots and 33 on goal.

 

The first half began with Olivet Nazarene (IL) establishing strong offensive momentum. Daniel Martinez opened the scoring in the 12th minute with an assist from Atjon Thaqi, and quickly followed up with two more goals to complete a hat trick within the first 18 minutes. Kingsley Kanu and Nathan Schmidli each added to the tally, with Schmidli scoring twice, pushing the lead further.

 

Thaqi contributed significantly with multiple assists and goals, including a personal four-goal streak that extended Olivet Nazarene's advantage. Caleb Mariotti also assisted Thaqi, showcasing the team's cohesive play. The half closed with Olivet Nazarene ahead 13-0, reflecting a commanding performance on both ends of the field.

 

The second half began with a surge in momentum for Olivet Nazarene, as Adrian Kang Hagman broke the deadlock with a goal in the 66th minute, assisted by Josh Mariotti. This was swiftly followed by Philip Joergensen's first goal of the season, with an assist from Kang Hagman, expanding their advantage.
