OLIVET SECURES 1-0 VICTORY OVER TRINITY
PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (11-2-1, 6-0-0) secured a 1-0 victory over Trinity Christian (IL) (5-6-3, 3-3-0) on Saturday at Schaaf Athletic Complex, with a second-half goal and a shutout performance by their goalkeeper.
The first half commenced with Olivet Nazarene applying early pressure, evidenced by an attempt from Niels Noordhoek in the opening seconds, though it went high. The team continued to push forward, with Stanley Hooker and Maxime Schonenberger testing the Trinity goalkeeper, Samuel Negus, who managed to keep the scoreline intact with crucial saves.
The Tigers maintained their offensive efforts, with Nathan Schmidli attempting to find the net twice but missing the target. Despite several shots and a strong presence in the opponent's half, the half concluded without either team breaking through, leaving the score at 0-0 going into the break.
The second half began with Olivet Nazarene maintaining solid defensive pressure, leading to an offside call against the Trolls just after the start. Olivet Nazarene's offensive strategy paid off in the 66th minute when Adrian Kang Hagman scored the only goal of the match, assisted by Atjon Thaqi and Noa Norton, marking Hagman's fourth goal of the season.
