TIGERS BEAT JUDSON 3-1 TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY

ELGIN, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (12-2-1, 7-0-0) secured a 3-1 victory over Judson (IL) (4-6-5, 3-1-3) on the road at Dawson Field. The Tigers scored all three goals in the second half, maintaining their perfect conference record.

 

Olivet Nazarene opened the first half with a strong offensive effort, highlighted by a series of corner kicks led by Atjon Thaqi at 6:59, 13:46, and 42:39. Despite this pressure, the Tigers were unable to convert, with Stanley Hooker's header striking the crossbar at 12:04, and Niels Noordhoek and Noa Norton seeing their attempts saved by Judson's goalkeeper, Ivan Dominguez. The Eagles countered with a couple of shots, one of which was blocked and another saved by Olivet's Cedric Kunzli. The half concluded with a 0-0 scoreline.

 

Adrian Kang Hagman opened the scoring for Olivet Nazarene in the 62nd minute with an assist from Norton, giving them a 1-0 lead. Judson quickly responded with a goal from Mark Leavy just a minute later, leveling the score at 1-1. However, the Tigers regained control as Nathan Schmidli scored in the 68th minute, assisted by Thaqi, followed by Noordhoek's goal in the 70th minute, securing a 3-1 advantage. The game ended with Olivet maintaining their lead, concluding with a final score of 3-1.

 

Schmidli scored once and secured the game-winning goal for the Tigers. Norton contributed with an assist, augmenting the team's offensive efforts. Hagman added a goal, marking his shot as both his first and only attempt on target. Noordhoek also found the net, converting one of his three shots on goal.

 

Olivet Nazarene holds a record of 12-2-1 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 7-0-0. Judson stands at 4-6-5 overall with a conference record of 3-1-3.
