Marshall, Mo. - The tigers opened the tournament against Morningside, struggling to find consistency against a strong opponent. Despite solid efforts from Austin Love, Cameron Johnston, Nic VanOort, and Cade Ooms, the team fell in four sets. Morningside's attacks and strong serving gave them the edge, though Olivet showed strong competitive play, particularly in extended rallies.
Next, Olivet faced Central Christian and showed improvement, keeping points close and generating more offensive opportunities. Key kills from Cade Ooms and Nic VanOort kept the team in contention, while Ty Van Laten's consistent digging helped extend rallies.
Against OUAZ, Olivet continued to fight hard, but OUAZ's depth and strategic play earned them the win. Across the first three matches, Cade Ooms totaled 43 kills (3.07 per set), 22 digs, and 41 points (2.16 per set), while Nic VanOort added 38 kills (2.53 per set), 19 digs, 3 solo blocks, and 48 points (3.2 per set). Ty Van Laten contributed 37 digs, averaging 2.46 per set.
