TIGERS BATTLE VITERBO IN HARD FOUGHT FOUR-SET MATCH

LaCrosse, Wis. - The Tigers men's volleyball team put forth a determined effort on the road Saturday at Viterbo University, falling in four sets, 25-21, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20.

Olivet stayed competitive early, with Cameron Johnston and Cade Ooms contributing multiple kills and points from transition. Tomas Gonzalez ran the offense efficiently, connecting with hitters and keeping Viterbo's block moving. Nic VanOort and Ben Kreke added consistent pressure at the net, while Joe Akeo made several key defensive plays. Despite their effort, the Tigers dropped the first two sets.

The third set saw Olivet respond with energy, jumping out to an early lead behind aggressive serving from Gonzalez and smart attacks from Johnston and VanOort. The Tigers forced Viterbo errors and captured the set 25-17, showing the team's potential when their offense clicked.

In the fourth set, Olivet remained in the hunt, trading points through the mid-set. Johnston continued to be a go-to option, with Ooms and VanOort contributing crucial swings. The Tigers tied late, but Viterbo finished strong to close the set 25-20.

Johnston and Ooms led the offense all afternoon, while Gonzalez anchored the setter position and added pressure with his serving. VanOort and Kreke contributed key points at the net, helping the Tigers stay competitive throughout the match.
