TIGERS SECURE THIRD-PLACE TEAM FINISH AT MIDWEST CLASSIC
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Oilvet Nazarene University men's cross country team cruised to a third-place team finish at their home meet, the Midwest Classic, Friday afternoon at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course.
The Tigers were led by junior harrier Charlie Bardwell, who bolted to a top-10 finish with a 26:39.90 to place seventh overall. Reese DeVriednt was just a few paces behind his teammate, securing 11th place at 26:50.30.
Kaden Smith and Austin Tice ran the race in tandem, with the former placing 16th at 26:58.90 and the latter only three seconds behind in 17th at 27:01.30. Toby Sneed wrapped the scoring for the Purple & Yellow Gold in 24th place, crossing the finish line at 27:26.20.
The Tigers finished with a final score of 75 points to place third in the nine-team event. No.13-ranked Indiana East tallied 27 points to win the meet.
ONU will next compete at the highly competitive Louisville XC Classic on Oct. 4.
