ONU SPLITS DAY THREE AT SPACE COAST TOURNAMENT
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Olivet Nazarene University's softball team wrapped up day three of the Space Coast Tournament with a walk-off win, splitting Wednesday's doubleheader. The Tigers were held scoreless in a 3-0 loss to the University of Fort Lauderdale in the opener but responded with a thrilling extra-inning victory over Florida Memorial, securing a 6-5 win on a walk-off triple by Faith Mikos.
Against Fort Lauderdale, ONU's offense struggled to find its rhythm, managing just three hits in the game. The Tigers were held in check by the Eagles' pitching, as they couldn't capitalize on their limited baserunners. Despite a strong effort in the circle from Allie Timm, who pitched all seven innings and allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits while striking out five, ONU was unable to string together enough offense to rally.
In game two, ONU bounced back in a back-and-forth battle with Florida Memorial. The Tigers took an early lead in the third inning on a run by Autumn Adamik, but the Lions responded with a run of their own in the fourth. ONU trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth before delivering in the clutch. Zoe Oshiro led off the inning with a bunt single, setting up Mikos, who smashed a triple to left field, driving in the tying and winning runs for a walk-off victory. Mikos finished with two hits and a game-high two RBIs, while Oshiro added two hits and an RBI in the win.
Looking Ahead
ONU continues tournament play on Mar. 6th, facing Bethel University at 10 a.m. CST.
