BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University (15-5, 11-1) defeated #15 University of St. Francis (19-2, 11-2), 91-77, in a thrilling win to secure a solo lead at the top of the CCAC.
The Tigers started the game with a strong presence in the paint, scoring 14 points from inside, which helped them establish an early lead. Calee Biedron opened the scoring with a layup assisted by Brooklyn Marshall. Lindsey Nell contributed seven points in the quarter, including a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to secure a narrow lead.
The Saints kept the game close, tying the score multiple times and taking a brief lead at one point. However, Olivet Nazarene's ability to capitalize on turnovers and secure offensive rebounds allowed them to edge ahead. The quarter ended with the Tigers leading 21-18.
The Tigers seized control in the second quarter with a strong offensive showing, highlighted by a 13–0 run that extended the lead to 18. The Saints managed to cut into the deficit slightly, with Le'lani Harris contributing two 3-pointers, but Olivet maintained a comfortable lead. Despite shooting 1/15 from three, the Tigers led 45–34 at the half.
The Tigers extended their lead with a commanding 24-point third quarter, led by Caroline Sikkink scoring 6 big points. Olivia Dirkse added a pivotal 3-pointer at 6:02, and Preslee Michael capitalized on a layup and a free throw at 4:20, pushing the lead to 19 points. Despite a few scoring efforts by the Saints, the Tigers maintained control and finished the quarter ahead 69-53.
The Tigers maintained control in the fourth quarter despite a push from the Saints, capitalizing on key plays from Nell and Dirkse. Nell's defensive efforts were instrumental, as she recorded a crucial steal and layup at 7:31. Dirkse added momentum with a layup and a three-pointer, the latter extending the lead to 19 points at 00:50. The game concluded with Olivet securing a decisive 91–77 victory.
Lindsey Nell led the Tigers with 18 points, converting all six of her free throw attempts and collecting eight rebounds. Dirkse contributed with 15 points, hitting 6 of 10 shots, including three 3-pointers all in the second half. Caroline Sikkink scored 15 points, making 6 of 10 field goals and adding three assists. Ava Mikesell added nine points, making 4 of 7 from the field and recording three assists.
The Tigers hold a 15-5 overall record and an 11-1 conference record. The Saints stand at 19-2 overall and 11-2 in conference play.
