ONU AND SAINT XAVIER BATTLE TO 0-0 DRAW
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (3-0-5, 1-0-4) played to a scoreless draw against Saint Xavier (IL) (5-3-3, 4-0-2) in a tightly contested match on Saturday night.
The first half between Olivet Nazarene and Saint Xavier began with both teams demonstrating strong defensive efforts. The Tigers tested Saint Xavier's goalkeeper early, with Aaliyah Racadio-Kaho and Sofia Diaz both having shots saved by Natalie Dybas. Meegan Randall, Olivet's goalkeeper, matched this performance by stopping attempts from Paige Swaw and other Saint Xavier players.
Olivet Nazarene continued to push forward, with Emma Daniels and Melea Miller contributing to the offensive efforts. Despite multiple opportunities, including a header by Helen Linares late in the half, the team was unable to convert. The half concluded with the score remaining 0-0, as both defenses held firm.
The second half commenced with the Tigers applying pressure through multiple corner kicks taken by Diaz, though no immediate scoring resulted. Daniels and Racadio-Kaho both attempted to capitalize on opportunities, but their shots missed the target. Despite consistent offensive efforts, including a saved attempt by Arabelle Laurent at the 70th minute, the team was unable to break the deadlock.
Defensively, Olivet held firm with goalkeeper Randall making key saves against Saint Xavier attempts, notably stopping efforts in the 76th and 89th minutes. Meanwhile, the visitors remained persistent, but their shots either went wide or were effectively blocked. As the final whistle blew, the score remained level at 0-0, concluding the match in a draw.
Randall recorded a shutout with four saves, playing all 90 minutes in goal for Olivet. Miller led the team in shots with four, putting one on target. Laurent and Diaz each registered one shot on goal during the match. Daniels contributed with three shots, although none were on target.
Olivet Nazarene stands at 3-0-5 overall and 1-0-4 in conference play. Saint Xavier holds a record of 5-3-3 overall and 4-0-2 in conference competition.
