OLIVET NAZARENE EXTENDS UNBEATEN STREAK WITH A 3-0 WIN AGAINST VITERBO
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (4-0-5, 2-0-4) secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Viterbo (5-4-0, 4-3-0) on Tuesday, with Olivet's goalkeeper recording a shutout and four saves.
The first half began with Olivet Nazarene establishing control early, as Marisa Lopez attempted a shot within the first minute. Despite several fouls, Olivet Nazarene managed to maintain defensive composure, with Meegan Randall securing two crucial saves against Viterbo's offensive efforts.
As the half progressed, Olivet Nazarene continued to press, with Sofia Diaz executing a corner kick that led to a blocked shot by Arabelle Laurent. The breakthrough came in the 39th minute when Aaliyah Racadio-Kaho scored, assisted by Siarra Sandobal, giving Olivet Nazarene a 1-0 lead. The half concluded with Olivet Nazarene ahead, maintaining their advantage into the break.
Olivet Nazarene began the second half by maintaining offensive pressure, highlighted by Racadio-Kaho's early shot, though it was saved by Viterbo's goalkeeper. The home team continued to challenge the Viterbo defense with multiple attempts, including shots from Melea Miller and Lopez, though none found the net initially.
The breakthrough came in the 75th minute when Miller scored with an assist from Laurent, extending Olivet's lead. Shortly after, Jocelyn Royce capitalized on Viterbo's defensive lapses and scored in the 81st minute, pushing the score to 3-0. Olivet Nazarene closed the half by maintaining control and securing a decisive victory with a final score of 3-0.
Melea Miller scored one goal from four shots, with one of those on target. Aaliyah Racadio-Kaho found the back of the net once, securing the game-winning goal, with two of her three shots on goal. Jocelyn Royce also contributed a goal, converting one of her three shots, two of which were on target. Meegan Randall recorded a shutout with four saves, facing four shots in 90 minutes of play.
Olivet Nazarene improved to 4-0-5 overall and held a 2-0-4 record in conference play. Viterbo fell to 5-4-0 overall with a 4-3-0 record in conference play.
