FAST START PROPELS TIGERS TO VICTORY AT CALUMET
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (5-0-5, 3-0-4) secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Calumet (IN) (1-7-2, 0-3-1) on Saturday and extended their unbeaten streak, with three first-half goals setting the pace.
The first half began with Olivet establishing control early in the match. Samantha Guerra opened the scoring in the 9th minute, marking her second goal of the season. Melea Miller extended the lead with a goal at the 17th minute, assisted by Samantha Larsen. Just moments later, Aaliyah Racadio-Kaho netted another goal in the 18th minute with an assist from Miller, putting the Tigers ahead 3-0.
Olivet Nazarene's offensive pressure continued with multiple shots on target, though Sabrina Ramsay made several key saves for the Crimson Wave. The period closed with the Tigers maintaining their 3-0 advantage, showcasing a strong first-half performance.
The second half began with Olivet Nazarene capitalizing on their momentum, as Miller netted a goal in the 49th minute with an assist from Jocelyn Royce, extending their lead to 4-0. Despite several attempts, including shots by Arabelle Laurent, Racadio-Kaho, and Larsen, the Tigers were unable to increase their tally before the final whistle, with Calumet's goalkeeper, Ramsay, making several stops in front of the net.
ONU holds a record of 5-0-5 overall, including 3-0-4 in conference play. Calumet drops to 1-7-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
