ONU HOLDS ON FOR 2-1 WIN AT TRINITY CHRISTIAN

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (7-0-6, 5-0-5) secured a 2-1 victory over Trinity Christian (7-9-1, 5-5-1) on Saturday at Schaaf Athletic Complex.

The first half began with the Tigers establishing an early offensive push. Aaliyah Racadio-Kaho's efforts were turned away twice by Trinity's goalkeeper, but Rebekah Delia broke through at 12:02, scoring the first goal of the match. Delia doubled the lead for Olivet Nazarene at 27:03, capitalizing on an assist from Melea Miller. Trinity responded with a penalty kick goal by Nerea Genc at 32:14, narrowing the gap to 2-1, which remained the score through the end of the first half.

Olivet Nazarene pressed the attack in the second half, with Emma Daniels, Delia, and Racadio-Kaho each taking shots, but all were thwarted by Trinity's goalkeeper, Michelle Urribarri. Despite multiple offensive efforts, including two corner kicks by Sofia Diaz, the Tigers could not find the back of the net. Meegan Randall and the Tiger defense held strong though and held Trinity Christian scoreless in the second half to preserve the 2-1 victory.

Delia scored both goals for Olivet, with all three of her shots on target. Miller contributed an assist and took two shots, one of which was on goal. Meegan Randall recorded four saves, conceding only one goal in her 90 minutes of play.

Olivet Nazarene improves to 7-0-6 overall and holds a 5-0-5 record in conference play. Trinity Christian falls to 7-9-1 overall with a 5-5-1 record in conference play.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, Oct. 27 with a matchup against Governors State (Ill.). The contest will begin at 6 p.m.
