ONU COMES UP EMPTY-HANDED IN LABOR DAY TOURNAMENT
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. –The Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team came up empty-handed in the Siena Heights Labor Day Tournament, dropping all three of their matches this weekend at the SHU Fieldhouse.
The Tigers opened the weekend with a 25-12, 25-21, 25-14 setback to Spring Arbor Friday afternoon before falling 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 to Siena Heights and 25-22, 26-28, 25-22, 25-16 to Lawrence Tech Saturday.
Analiese Fredin led Olivet with 30 assists against Spring Arbor. Naomi Monney-Hori tallied 10 kills and added seven digs, providing a balanced performance on both offense and defense. Lynette Alsot achieved a perfect hitting percentage, converting her single attack opportunity into a kill. Emma Edmonds contributed with six kills and two digs, while Brynn Nikonchuk added seven kills and six digs.
Sabrina Sanif led the match against Siena Heights with a .429 hitting percentage with seven kills and a service ace. Fredin again orchestrated the offense skillfully, dishing out 26 assists and adding four kills. Monney-Hori contributed 12 digs and added eight kills to the mix, while Nikonchuk provided an offensive lift with a team-high nine kills and a solid .263 hitting percentage.
Fredin led the Tigers with 33 assists in four sets against Lawrence Tech. Monney-Hori was a key player with 19 kills on 35 attempts, achieving a .429 attack percentage, and scored a team-high 21 points. Edmonds added six kills and contributed defensively with five digs. Sanif registered five kills and added one block assist.
The Tigers will open conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Trinity Christian. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
