ONU BOUNCES BACK WITH STRAIGHT-SET WIN OVER MOUNT MARY

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team bounced back in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 25-16, 25-12, 25-15 straight-set victory over Mount Mary Tuesday evening in the Bloechl Center.

OlNU surged ahead in the first set, capitalizing on multiple errors by the Blue Angels to establish an early lead. The period featured a strong performance from Analiese Fredin, who contributed with several key assists, including a decisive set to Sabrina Sanif for a kill at 5-2. The visiting team secured a commanding 25-16 win, punctuated by service aces from Skylar Dorsey and Natalie Wall, and a final ace by Breanna Lamie to close the set.

The Tigers opened the second set with a strong offensive rhythm, quickly overcoming an initial service error by securing back-to-back points, including a kill by Naomi Monney-Hori assisted by Fredin. The visitors maintained their momentum with a 5-1 run, highlighted by consecutive kills from Dorsey and Brynn Nikonchuk, extending their lead to 8-3. Despite a brief resurgence from Mount Mary, the Tigers responded decisively, with Monney-Hori and Sanif contributing key points to close out the set 25-12, thanks to a final block by Fredin and Ayla Dorsey.

ONU surged ahead at the start of the third set, opening with a 5-0 run fueled by Sanif's three kills, including a setup from Jayley Fisher at 1-0. The Blue Angels struggled to counter, calling a timeout at 9-1 after Monney-Hori's service ace, but the Tigers maintained control with a mix of strategic plays and opponent errors. Fisher showcased her versatility with multiple assists and a critical kill from Nikonchuk at 23-15, and Astyn Casey sealed the set with a service ace and a block alongside Skylar Dorsey for a 25-15 victory.

Monney-Hori led the offensive effort for the Tigers with nine kills, achieving a .438 hitting percentage, and adding six digs on defense. Sanif contributed significantly with seven kills and two block assists, totaling eight points in the match. Lamie was pivotal in the back row, recording 18 digs to anchor the defense. Fredin facilitated the attack with 15 assists while adding three digs and one block assist.

The Tigers will look to build momentum in the CCAC when they host Saint Xavier Tuesday night in McHie Arena.
