TIGERS SECURE SECOND CONSECUTIVE SWEEP WITH 3-0 WIN OVER IUSB
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team picked up its second consecutive sweep with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-13 conference victory over Indiana South Bend Tuesday evening in McHie Arena.
Olivet Nazarene opened the first set with a steady offensive performance, beginning with a kill from Ayla Dorsey off an assist by Analiese Fredin, leveling the score early. The home team then established a lead with contributions from Brynn Nikonchuk and Sabrina Sanif, capitalizing on the Titans' attack errors to push the score to 7-3.
The middle of the set saw the Tigers extending their advantage further, as Natalie Wall's presence forced multiple errors from the opposition, widening the gap to 21-14. Despite a late surge from the Titans, featuring several points from Bree Lake, Olivet Nazarene maintained composure. A final kill from Dorsey, set up by Fredin, secured the first set at 25-21 in favor of the Tigers.
Olivet Nazarene took control early in the second set, capitalizing on an initial service error from Indiana South Bend to spark a scoring run. Fredin facilitated multiple successful attacks, contributing to a 4-0 lead, highlighted by kills from Skylar Dorsey and Naomi Monney-Hori. Despite a brief response from the Titans, the Tigers maintained momentum with a service ace from Monney-Hori, pushing the score to 6-1.
Throughout the set, Olivet Nazarene continued to apply pressure with effective plays from Fredin and Dorsey, extending their lead to 17-8. Indiana South Bend attempted to retaliate, but the Tigers' consistent execution, including a crucial service ace by Breanna Lamie, kept the home team in command. The set concluded with Olivet Nazarene sealing the victory at 25-14, thanks to a decisive service ace from Lamie.
Olivet Nazarene began the third set with decisive momentum, fueled by the offensive coordination of Fredin and contributions from Skylar and Ayla Dorsey. Early kills by Dorsey and Sanif, assisted by Fredin, helped the Tigers establish a steady lead at 4-2.
The team extended their advantage significantly with a combination of service aces from Astyn Casey and Wall, along with strategic kills by Monney-Hori and Fredin herself, pushing the score to 12-6. Despite the Titans' attempts to close the gap, including a brief service ace, the Tigers maintained their composure.
As the set progressed, Olivet Nazarene capitalized on Indiana's errors and continued to build on their lead with multiple kills from Dorsey and Monney-Hori. The set concluded with Olivet Nazarene securing a commanding 25-13 victory, underscoring their strong performance throughout.
Sanif led the Tigers with an impressive .700 hitting percentage, recording eight kills and contributing two blocks. Fredin orchestrated the offense with 27 assists and added seven kills, also achieving a .700 hitting percentage. Monney-Hori was active on both ends, tallying nine kills and nine digs. Lamie bolstered the defense with 13 digs while adding three service aces.
Olivet Nazarene holds a 4-14 overall record with a 3-3 mark in conference play.
