FIVE HIT DOUBLE FIGURES IN BIG WIN OVER MOODY BIBLE
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Five Tigers reached double-digit points as the Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team rolled to a dominant 134-64 win over Moody Bible Tuesday evening in McHie Arena.
Senior guard Caleb Swearingen led the Tigers, seting a new career-high with 26 points on an efficient 11-of-12 shooting performance. Caleb Corro knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 23 points. Eli Edwards filled in 17 points while Daniel Murphy recorded 15. Brayden Long came off the bench to drop in 13.
In total, 12 Tigers contributed to the scoresheet as ONU eclipsed the century mark for the first time this season.
ONU took control early in the first half. Leading 15-12 five minutes in, the Tigers quickly put the game out of reach when they opened up an extended 24-5 run to take a commanding lead. Moody Bible (2-8) trailed by double figures for the remainder of the game.
The Tigers closed out the opening period with a season-high 62 first-half points. Corro scored 16 while Swearingen had 12 points and Murphy with 11 to lead ONU to a 32-point lead at the halftime break.
The lead was never in question in the second half as the Tigers went on to score 72 more points in the second half. The reserves would come in to close out the big win, the team's second in a row.
The Tigers, now 3-6 overall, will return to CCAC play when they travel to Viterbo Saturday.
