NEWCOMERS LEAD ONU TO RUNNER-UP FINISH AT CLARKE FALL INVITE
GALENA, Ill. – Newcomers Taylor Ice and Bella Rosado led the Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the season-opening Clarke Fall Invite Tuesday afternoon at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course.
Ice, a freshman from Salem, Ill., fired the team's best score in the single-round tournament, carding a 90 to tie for fourth place and a spot on the all-tournament team. Rock Valley College transfer Bella Rosado finished one position behind her teammate, firing a 94 to finish in a tie for sixth-place.
Two-time all-CCAC first-team selection Lizzie Howard snagged sole possession of eighth place at 95, while Mya Jones rounded out the ONU scoring with a ninth-place finish at 98. Amelia Birge (107) and Jasmine Essington (112) both competed for the Tiger women, as well.
The Tigers finished the day with a team score of 377, good for second place at the four-team tournament. Iowa Central took the team crown at 360.
ONU will now compete in the two-day Battle at Blackthorn starting next Monday, Sept. 9 at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
