ONU FALLS SHORT AGAINST No. 15 BETHEL
McKENZIE, Tenn. - Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) women's soccer team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Bethel University Wildcats on the road Monday. Despite a strong second-half performance, the Tigers were unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit.
Bethel came out aggressively, finding the back of the net just 4 minutes into the match to take an early lead. The Wildcats extended their lead later in the first half with another goal in the 27th minute, putting the Tigers in a challenging position heading into halftime.
ONU came out with renewed energy after the break and began to create scoring opportunities. In the 59th minute, sophomore Sofia Diaz delivered for the Tigers, scoring her first goal of the season to cut Bethel's lead in half. Despite continued pressure and several close chances, ONU was unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will return to action on August 26th as they host Siena Heights University. The match is set for a 5:00 p.m. CST kickoff at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. ONU will look to bounce back and secure their first win of the season in front of their home crowd.
