ONU FALLS SHORT IN CCAC MATCH AT INDIANA SOUTH BEND

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team were unable to get a win streak going after a 12-25, 25-19, 13-25, 21-25 loss at Indiana South Bend Tuesday evening in the Student Activities Center.

After dropping the first set, the Tigers rallied to claim the second set. With ONU up 20-17 late, Sabrina Sanif roofed back-to-back solo blocks to ignite a 5-2 scoring run to close out the set. Kills from Kelsey Todd and Kaylee Cozen rounded out the big set to even the score at 1-1.

The Titans (3-23, 3-7 CCAC) responded by winning the third set by a wide margin, and looked poised to close out the match in dominant fashion until the Tigers came roaring back.

Trailing by seven at 22-15 in the fourth set, Halle Nicholas put down a kill that sparked a five-point ONU run. Naomi Monney-Hori followed her up with three consecutive kills, and Analiese Fredin notched a kill to cut the deficit to two. But IUSB scored three of the next four points to close things out.

Nicholas led ONU with 12 kills. Monney-Hori finished with eight. Kaitlyn Kolb had four kills while Kelsey Todd, Sanif, Fredin, and Cozen recorded three kills apiece.

Fredin posted a team-high 22 assists and notched two service aces. Sara Serafimova was credited with a match-high 27 digs.

The Tigers will stay on the road to take on Calumet Thursday night.
