TIGERS TAKEN TO EXTRA INNINGS BUT FALL TO THE BEES 12-11

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball (14-15, 4-4 CCAC) team fell to the Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose (9-18, 4-3 CCAC) Tuesday night 13-11 in extra innings. Donovan Yelle hit two home runs for four RBIs including a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend the contest.

Back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fifth inning put the Tigers in front 6-2. Geon Yoon hit his seventh home run of the year. The South Korean catcher's two-run home run was followed up by a solo shot from Yelle in the very next at-bat.

The SAU bats got hot scoring eight unanswered runs between the sixth and eighth innings. A three-run home run would cap off the run for the Fighting Bees giving them a 10-6 advantage.

The Tigers would rally in the bottom half of the eighth to regain the lead. Kai Hudson's single with the bases load would spark the comeback. Yelle's two-run home run with two outs would put ONU back in front 11-10.

The combination of some solid late-inning pitching from Saint Ambrose's Hunter Keim along with timely hitting from the Bees' lineup tied the ball game up in the ninth and outlasted Olivet in extra innings to hand the Tigers the 12-11 loss.
