
TIGERS PICK UP 5-2 WIN IN LONE FALL DUAL AGAINST ILLINOIS COLLEGE
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Playing in their lone dual match of the fall season, the Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis team rolled to a 5-2 victory over Illinois College Saturday afternoon at the Snowbarger Athletic Complex.
Natasha Nieto and Rafaela Luna set the tone at the top of the line-up, handling the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively, in straight sets. Nieto won the top match 6-4, 6-1 while Luna cruised to a 7-5, 6-1 win the No. 2 match.
The duo also teamed up to win the top doubles match to a score of 6-3. This win, coupled with the 6-4 No. 2 doubles win from Chieh-Yu Chen and Savannah Amatyleon, allowed the Tigers to collect the doubles point. Chen then secured the overall match victory for ONU with her dominant 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 3 singles match.
Eilym Gomez rounded out the big day for the Tigers with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 super tiebreaker win in the No. 6 singles match give ONU the 5-2 win over Illinois College.
The Tigers will return to action in the spring with a match against Purdue Northwest on Feb. 7.
