TIGERS SPLIT SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER

GRAND RAPIDS, MI. – Olivet Nazarene University's men's volleyball team experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on Saturday, splitting their matches against Aquinas (3-0) and Campbellsville (3-2).

The Tigers roared out of the gates against Aquinas, dominating the Saints in three straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-21). The ONU offense was firing on all cylinders, led by a well-balanced attack featuring nine kills from Brody McAfee and eight from Cade Ooms. The Tigers also controlled the net, registering 18 blocks, with McAfee leading the way with 7.

The second match was a different story, as Campbellsville came out with a renewed intensity. The Tigers battled hard, but Campbellsville's aggressive serving and strong blocking made it difficult to establish their rhythm. Despite dropping the first set 25-19, ONU bounced back with a convincing 25-21 win in the second.

The third set was a classic back-and-forth affair. The Tigers fought tooth and nail, even holding a set point at 28-27. However, Campbellsville clawed their way back, delivering a clutch kill to tie the score at 28-28. The Tigers faltered down the stretch, eventually falling 30-28. The Tigers responded with another strong set win, but Campbellsville proved too strong in the deciding fifth set, taking the match 15-12.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will look to build on their positive moments from this weekend as they continue their season. They'll be back in action on Feb. 26th when they travel to face the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. The game is set to start at 7:00 p.m. CST.
