TIGERBALL SPLITS GAMES AT GRACE COLLEGE CLASSIC

WINONA LAKE, IN. – Over the weekend, Olivet Nazarene University's women's basketball team emerged from the Grace College Classic with a mixed bag of results. The Tigers roared to victory in their opening clash against Grace College, securing a 97-81 triumph. However, the euphoria was short-lived as they faced a formidable opponent in Spring Arbor University, succumbing to a 105-79 defeat.

Game 1 Against Grace College

Right from the tip-off, ONU set the tone with a quick 5-point run, establishing an early foothold in the game. Sophmore forward Brooklyn Marshall showcased her scoring prowess, contributing to multiple double-digit leads for the Tigers in the first half. The team maintained their advantage throughout the opening two quarters, heading into halftime with a comfortable nine-point lead. Emerging from the break, the Tigers extended their dominance, embarking on a 10-7 run. A pivotal jump shot by Marshall, who contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, propelled ONU to a double-digit lead once more, and they skillfully maintained control for the remainder of the game. Grace College fought valiantly, but ONU's strategic play and consistent scoring gradually pulled the game out of reach.

Game 2 Against Spring Arbor University

In the second game against Spring Arbor University, however, ONU faced a tough challenge, succumbing to a 105-79 defeat. Spring Arbor surged ahead with a commanding 20-0 run, leaving ONU trailing early in the first quarter. However, junior guard Khendel Rolison, who posted 26 points and 2 rebounds, and senior guard Jamie Finn injected a spark of hope for the Tigers with consecutive three-pointers. The Tigers showcased resilience, making commendable attempts to narrow the gap, but Spring Arbor's prowess on both ends of the court proved insurmountable. As the second half unfolded, Spring Arbor continued to assert their dominance, going on a 9-7 run in the opening minutes. A well-executed layup and a successful free throw widened the gap to 29 points in favor of Spring Arbor. Despite ONU's tenacity, Spring Arbor controlled the boards and secured a convincing victory over the Tigers.
