EARLY GOAL SETS TONE FOR ONU AGAINST HOLY CROSS

BOURBONNAIS, IL. – In a thrilling matchup at Snowbarger Athletic Complex, Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over the Saints of Holy Cross College on Tuesday.

 

First Half: Early Breakthrough For The Tigers

The game kicked off with high energy, and ONU wasted no time in making their intentions clear. Just three minutes into the match, senior forward Kaylee Evers capitalized on a well-executed play, finding the back of the net to give ONU a 1-0 lead. Senior forward Susanna Lindquist's precise assist played a pivotal role in setting up the early breakthrough. The Saints found themselves scrambling in the wake of ONU's relentless offensive onslaught. As halftime beckoned, ONU held onto their slim 1-0 advantage, leaving Holy Cross in pursuit.

 

Second Half: ONU Seals The Deal

The second half saw Holy Cross making valiant efforts to level the score, but the Tiger defense remained resolute. The Tigers kept their composure and continued to push forward, seeking to extend their lead. In the 84th minute, their persistence paid off once more, as junior midfielder Olivia Lorenc capitalized on a scoring opportunity. Fresman midfielder Sofia Diaz's assist was perfectly timed, allowing Lorenc to secure the crucial second goal of the match. With a 2-0 lead, ONU held firm until the final whistle and walked away with a clean sheet. 

 

Looking Ahead

The Tigers are excited about their win and are looking forward to their next match on the road against Roosevelt University on Saturday, Oct. 7th. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CST at Morris Field.
