TIGERS LEAVE KENTUCKY WITH A WIN

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball program split each game of their second doubleheader against Lindsey Wilson. The Tigers topped a season-high with 16 earned runs in their opening-day win. ONU dropped their second game to the Kentucky ball club 6-5.

First Game: Olivet Nazarene 16, Lindsey Wilson 8

ONU scored 12 runs between the fourth and fifth innings which gave the Tigers the win in the opening game. Nolan Louis led the team driving in three runs while Jack Dupuis, Garret Mooney, Evan Pogioli, and Christian Amlong all combined for the team's eight remaining runs batted in. Kai Hudson Pogioli scored a team-high three runs. This all culminated in the ball club's 16 runs; their best offensive performance this year.

Ethan Underwood earned his first win of the year striking out six batters in the process. Jorden Rhoden struck out four additional batters in relief. The Tigers have now struck out double-digit totals in back-to-back games.

Second Game: Lindsey Wilson 6, Olivet Nazarene 5

The Tigers built a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth before LWU scored five unanswered runs. A two-run home run from Jack Dupuis put the Tigers ahead by three runs. This led to Lindsey Wilson taking full advantage of three errors to take their first lead of the game.

Donovan Yelle was quick to react and score off a past ball cutting the deficit to a run. This was not enough as Lindsey Wilson did not allow a baserunner for the rest of the game. Tommy Castro went 4.2 innings and recorded a season-high five strikeouts.

The Tigers will visit Bethel (TN) next Friday and Saturday for another out-of-conference double double-header. The first pitch is slated for Feb. 17 at 12 p.m. CT with the second game following its conclusion. Please visit ONUTigers.com to follow along with the updated live links.
