DELA VEGA HAT TRICK EARNS ROAD WIN OVER GSU

CROWN POINT, IN. - In an awe-inspiring display of skill and teamwork, Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team claimed an emphatic 6-0 victory on the road against Governors State University on Wednesday at Crown Point Sportsplex.

 

First Half: Off To A Flying Start

The first half of the game saw ONU making their intentions clear. They patiently built their attack, waiting for the perfect moments to strike. In the 40th minute, freshman midfielder Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano found the back of the net, brilliantly assisted by senior defender Sara Loichinger, breaking the deadlock. The Tigers weren't done yet. Just three minutes later, in the 43rd minute, junior forward Hannah Dela Vega added to the tally, with Racadio-Kahoohanohano returning the favor with an exquisite assist. The Tigers weren't satisfied and continued to press forward. In the 44th minute, Dela Vega scored her second goal, this time courtesy of an assist from junior midfielder Emily Greene. The first half ended with ONU leading 3-0, a commanding advantage.

 

Second Half: Tigers Maintain Their Grip

Entering the second half with a comfortable lead, ONU exhibited remarkable composure. They controlled the pace of the game, preventing any significant threat from the Jaguars. In the 74th minute, junior defender Brooklyn Hulliberger extended ONU's lead, assisted by senior forward Susanna Lindquist. The Tigers were relentless. In the 82nd minute, Dela Vega secured her hat-trick with yet another goal, this time orchestrated by junior defender Kelsey Bowling. And just when it seemed like the show was over, Racadio-Kahoohanohano made her mark once more, scoring in the 86th minute with an assist from junior midfielder Olivia Lorenc. The second half concluded with ONU maintaining their dominance, securing a remarkable 6-0 victory.

 

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will look to build on their momentum when they host the Fighting Saints of the University of St. Francis on Sept. 30th at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. CST.
