TIGERS GEARING UP FOR CCAC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's tennis teams squared off against Roosevelt for their final matches of the regular season. Despite the 4-2 loss for the ONU men and the 4-1 setback for the Tiger women to the Lakers, the Purple & Yellow Gold have qualified for the CCAC Tournament.

The two ONU tennis teams will host St. Ambrose at the Snowbarger Athletic Complex for the quarterfinal round. The men will take on the Fighting Bees Monday at 3:30 p.m. CST, with the women set to face off against SAU Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., as well.

Men: Roosevelt 4, Olivet Nazarene 2

Juan Banuls Diaz and Chatton Haws got the match off to a hot start, with Banuls picking up the 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and Haws picking up the straight-set 7-5, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 match. Roosevelt, however, would go on to win the rest of the singles matches, and despite the dominant 6-0 win from Haws and Andres Viedma Diaz in the No. 3 match, the Lakers collected the doubles point as well to hand ONU the loss.

Women: Roosevelt 4, Olivet Nazarene 1

Hailey Haws was responsible for the lone ONU point, picking up a dominant 6-2, 6-0 straight-set victory at the No. 3 singles match. That was all the Tigers could muster though as Roosevelt took the rest of the singles matches and the doubles point.

Both Tiger teams will now host St. Ambrose in their respective CCAC Tournament Quarterfinals, with the men to play Monday and the women to follow Tuesday in Bourbonnais, Ill.
