ONU FALLS TO ST. AMBROSE IN CCAC FINAL

DAVENPORT, IA. -  In a thrilling and closely contested CCAC championship final on Friday, Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team faced a heartbreaking defeat against St. Ambrose University with a score of 1-0.

First Half: A Battle of Determination

The opening half of the CCAC championship final unfolded as a defensive chess match, with both teams showcasing resilience and tactical prowess. ONU's backline held firm against St. Ambrose's attacking threats. The midfield battle was intense, with neither side willing to concede an inch. The Tigers had their fair share of opportunities in the attacking third, but St. Ambrose's defense proved equally unyielding. As the halftime whistle blew, the scoreboard remained untouched, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Second Half: Late Breakthrough Seals ONU's Fate

As the second half unfolded, the tension on the field escalated. Both teams intensified their efforts to seize control and break the deadlock. The Tigers' defense held firm, and their offensive plays became increasingly assertive. However, in the 80th minute, the Fighting Bees managed to capitalize on a scoring opportunity, finding the back of the net and taking a 1-0 lead. Despite a valiant effort from ONU to level the score, the clock ran out, leaving them just short of claiming the CCAC championship.

Looking Ahead
Despite the disappointment of the CCAC championship loss, the Tigers are determined to redirect their attention to the future. Setting their sights on a national bid, the setback serves as motivation. ONU will find out if they have a shot at the opening round of the national championship on Nov. 13th.
