ONU SWEEPS KCAC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SEASON

ELKHART, Ind. – For the third-consecutive year, the Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's swimming & diving teams brought home two banners as the Tigers swept the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championships this weekend at the Elkhart Aquatic Center. The ONU women totaled 785 points to finish first out of nine teams, while the Tiger men racked up 706 points to take the top spot at the seven-team meet.

The wins make the ONU men three-peat KCAC champions and mark the fifth-consecutive conference title for the Tiger women. ONU women's swimming & diving remains the only conference champion in KCAC history.

Julie Vega was named the KCAC Female Swimmer of the Meet, scoring a total of 60 points while breaking three individual meet records. Vega won all three individual events in which she was entered, setting the KCAC meet record in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle, the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke, and the Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke.

Kayla Parry was named the KCAC Female Freshman of the Meet. Parry set the meet records in the Women's 400 Yard Individual Medley and the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly while scoring 57 points for the Tigers.

Jack Fries and Timothy Braun were named the Co-KCAC Male Swimmers of the Meet, each scoring a total of 60 points and winning all three of the individual events in which they were entered. Fries was the Meet Champion in the Men's 200 Yard Individual Medley (meet record), the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke (meet record), and the Men's 200 Yard Backstroke.  Braun was Meet Champion in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle, the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle (meet record), and the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle.

Oliver Shead was named the KCAC Male Freshman of the Meet. Shead finished the meet with 49 points and was Meet Champion in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly.

In total, the Tigers won 28 of 38 events at the KCAC Championships, setting 17 new conference records along the way.

The Tigers will continue their postseason run at the NAIA National Championships, which will take place March 6-9 at the Columbus Aquatics Center in Columbus, Ga.
