TIGERBALL HEADING TO THE CCAC TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS AFTER 40-POINT WIN OVER SAU

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball program advanced to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference semifinals for the third consecutive season after defeating Saint Ambrose Fighting Bees 82-42 Wednesday night in the tournament first round.

Tigerball shut down the visitors defensively holding the Bees to a season-best two points in the opening quarter. SAU was held to 32.7% from the floor shooting and 1-9 from beyond the arc. ONU forced 44 turnovers turned into 33 points. They totaled 24 steals as a team. Maggie Cora, Brooklyn Marshall, Khendel Rolison, and Kaitlyn Engle each swiped three steals while five other tigers ended the night with two.

Caroline Boehne set the tone by scoring the game's first points with a bucket and drawing the foul in the act of shooting. She led the team with 12 points while snagging eight rebounds. Olivet led the entire game and Olivia Dirkse's three with 19 seconds remaining built the home team the largest lead of the game. The 40-point victory was the Tiger's sixth win of the season winning by a 40-plus point margin.

Cora was the other Tiger to finish in double-digits in scoring pouring in 10 points. 10 total Tigerball players scored five points or more in the victory. Off the bench, Anne Peters totaled a season-high eight points and Jamie Finn was an efficient 3-5 from beyond the arc for all nine of her points.

The Tigers are one win away from an appearance in the conference tournament final for the first time since the 2020-21 season when they won the championship over Saint Xavier. It is the second consecutive year that ONU defeated SAU in the first round of the tournament.
