TIGERS FALL TO THE FIGHTING BEES 3-1

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball fell to the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose 3-1 on Thursday night. The Tigers drop to 4-19 on the season overall and 2-5 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Max Slaughter set a career-high with 23.0 points on the night.

ONU fell behind early after a closely contested first set. The Tigers set up a set-point with the 24-23 advantage before SAU scored three unanswered. Olivet led the entire way in the second set to even the match score. The home side led by as many as six points before the visitors cut the lead to 20-21. Jaiton Kamaunu's kill assisted by Garrett Schad sent the match to the third set after a 22-25 win.

The Fighting Bees went on to claim the victory winning the last two sets of the evening. The Purple and Gold again held a match point at 25-24 but could not close the door. The Tigers did not go down easily as the fourth consecutive tight set saw ONU fight off two match points before falling 25-23.

Olivet Nazarene held the large advantage in total attacks out hitting SAU 125-104. Kamaunu set season-highs in kills (13) and service aces (3). Sterling Staranchuk was a wall at the net with a season-best eight total blocks. Hunter DeMello dished out a team-high 28 assists.
