TIGERS CONTINUE HOT START, PICK UP 6-1 WIN OVER WABASH
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis team continued its strong start to the fall season, picking up another dual win with a 6-1 victory over Wabash Saturday afternoon at the Park Forest Indoor Tennis Club.
The Tigers got the match off on the right foot thanks to their dominant doubles play, sweeping all three matches to collect the doubles point. Sanskar Choubey and Paul Saleh took the top match 6-1, Chatton Haws and Andres Viedma Diaz won 6-3 in the No. 2 match, and Davi Toledo and Hector Romero were victorious in the No. 3 match 6-4.
ONU went on to take five of the six singles matches. Haws set the tone at the top of the lineup, winning the No. 1 match in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 while Juan Banuls Diaz also took the No. 5 match in straight set 6-4, 6-4. Saleh at No. 2 (4-6, 7-5) 10-4) and Taiga Kurosu at No. 6 (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) took care of their matches via tiebreakers and Toledo was given the win at No. 3 singles after his opponent retired.
The Purple & Yellow Gold will wrap up their fall season at the Bethel Invite on Oct. 18-19 in Mishawaka, Ind.
