No. 24 ONU TAKES TOP THREE SPOTS AT SEASON-OPENING MEET
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Flynn Prather, Brandon Armendarez, and Nick Janson finished 1-2-3, respectively, to lead the No. 24 Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country team to victory at the Lewis Early Bird Friday evening.
The Tiger trio all finished within eight seconds of each other. Prather, who was ONU's top finisher at the NAIA National Championship meet a season ago, crossed the finish first at 19:27.11 to best 77-person field. ONU newcomer Armendarez was the runner-up at 19:30.62 and Nick Janson placed third with a time of 19:35.65.
Austin Tice cracked the top-10 with an eighth-place finish at 19:56.33 while David Olmos rounded out the ONU scoring in 14th place with a time of 20:15.42.
The ONU men secured the top spot in the six-team meet with 27 points, 10 points ahead of the meet runner-up Lewis with 37 points.
The Tigers will take a week off before hosting the Midwest Classic Sept. 20 at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course in Bourbonnais, Ill.
