
ONU FALLS TO GRAND VIEW IN NAIA FIRST ROUND
MARION, Ind. – Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team saw their season come to an end with a 95-77 loss to Grand View University in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament on Friday night at Luckey Arena.
ONU started strong, with Brooklyn Marshall scoring all 10 of her points in the first quarter. However, Grand View's hot shooting gave them a commanding 36-22 lead after the opening period. The Vikings connected on 82.4% of their field goal attempts in the first quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
The Tigers fought back in the second quarter, led by Bett O'Neal's nine points, including three 3-pointers. Despite their efforts, ONU trailed 55-39 at halftime. Khendel Rolison added four points in the period, but Grand View's balanced attack kept them in control.
ONU showed resilience in the third quarter, with O'Neal contributing another eight points, including two more 3-pointers. Rolison chipped in three points, but the Tigers couldn't close the gap significantly. Grand View maintained their lead, 74-59, heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Tigers made one last push, with Calee Biedron coming off the bench to score seven points, including two 3-pointers. O'Neal added four more points to finish with a team-high 23 points, while Rolison scored two to cap off her 14-point performance. However, Grand View's offense proved too much, as they sealed the 95-77 victory.
Looking Ahead
This loss marks the end of the season for ONU, which finished with a 20-11 record and made its 16th NAIA National Tournament appearance.
