ONU DROPS CCAC OPENER AT TRINITY CHRISTIAN

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball opened up Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play with a 3-0 sets loss at Trinity Christian Monday night.

The Tigers and Trolls traded points early on in the first set. Trinity Christian began to pull away riding a 12-5 run with the score standing at 23-12. ONU sparked some momentum by fighting off three-straight set points. A kill from TCC ended the first set 25-15.

Olivet fell behind 9-5 at the start of the second set. Three consecutive attacking errors by the Trolls and a kill by Max Slaughter brought it back to a two-point game. From there, both sides alternated points with TCC never leading by more than four. With the score of 19-16 in Trinity's favor, the Trolls registered four straight kills to create separation to take a 2-0 sets lead 25-19.

ONU did not go down without a fight in the final set of the match. The third set witnessed six ties and TCC never led by more than three. The Trolls committed two errors to give the Tigers the 16-15 lead that forced the home team to call a timeout. Out of the break, Trinity Christian regained the lead and fought off Olivet's comeback to complete the sweep 25-22.
