TITANS TAKE TWO OF THREE GAMES FROM THE TIGERS
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball team fell two games to on in a three-game series against Indiana University South Bend. The Tigers opened the series with a 10-3 win but lost in the final two games 14-3 and 15-5. Jack Dupuis slugged for three home runs in the series while Thomas Plizga starred on the mound claiming the win in game one pitching 6.2 innings giving up only two earned runs and striking out six batters.
Jack Dupuis provided two home runs in the win during game one of the series. The leadoff man and third baseman broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the third inning with a solo shot to left center field. He then capped off a streak of six unanswered runs with another home run in the top of the sixth inning. His third home run of the weekend was hit in the final game of the series to now bring his home run season total to seven on the year.
Thomas Plizga was given the nod as the game-one starter for his 12th appearance of the season. The freshman left-handed hurler pitched clean one-two-three innings in the fourth and sixth innings before being relieved by Kainoa Mane to pitch the remaining two and third innings. Plizga's two earned runs allowed dropped his earned run average to 5.32 in conference play.
Evan Pogioli matched Dupuis' team-high three RBIs for the series with three of his own. Donovan Yelle and Taylor Steig both recorded five hits. Masen Beatty hit his first home run as a Tiger in his only appearance in the three-game set.
