ONU DOMINATES ROOSEVELT IN ROAD WIN

CHICAGO, IL. – In a thrilling showdown at Morris Field on Saturday, the Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team claimed victory over Roosevelt University with a 2-0 win. 

 

First Half: Tigers Gain Early Control

The first half saw both teams battling for control of the game, with opportunities on both sides. However, it was the Tigers who managed to break the deadlock in the 20th minute. Freshman defender Carter Beckman, capitalized on a pinpoint pass from senior defender Nick Kilian to fire the ball into the net, giving ONU a 1-0 lead. The Lakers found themselves scrambling as the halftime whistle blew. 

 

Second Half: Tigers Stand Tall to Secure the Victory

The second half was equally intense, with Roosevelt determined to level the score. However, the Tigers' defense held strong, thwarting every attempt by their opponents. In the 50th minute, the ONU offense once again displayed its prowess. Sophomore defender Ali Sillah, with a well-timed run and an assist from freshman forward Joel Trueb, tucked the ball away, extending the Tigers' lead to 2-0.

The rest of the second half saw both teams battling fiercely, but the Tigers' defense held firm, denying Roosevelt any clear-cut chances.

 

Looking Ahead

With their heads held high and their confidence boosted, the Tigers eagerly look forward to their next match.ONU is set to face off against St. Xavier on Oct 10 th. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field.
