ONU TOPPLES IU-NW ON THE ROAD

CROWN POINT, IN. – On Friday, Olivet Nazarene University's women's soccer team secured a 3-0 road victory against Indiana University – Northwest at Crown Point Sportsplex.

 

First Half: ONU Has A Strong Start

The match kicked off with a surge of energy as both teams played with great intensity and determination, both eager to make their mark on the game. From the very beginning, ONU displayed a clear intent to control the game, maintaining possession and applying relentless pressure on their opponents. 

In the 19th minute, the breakthrough came when junior midfielder Olivia Lorenc showcased her clinical finishing skills. A pinpoint pass from freshman defender Hailey King found Lorenc in the perfect position, and she made no mistake. A precise strike into the back of the net gave the Tigers a well-deserved lead going into the second half. 

 

Second Half: Extending the Advantage

As the second half unfolded, ONU continued to assert their dominance, mirroring the commanding performance from the initial 45 minutes. Their control over possession and unyielding pressure on their opponents remained unwavering.

In the 61st minute, junior forward Hannah Dela Vega further solidified the Tigers' lead with a goal of pure brilliance. Sophomore defender Teisha Moe's assist was nothing short of a masterpiece, threading a pass that set up Dela Vega flawlessly for a potent strike, leaving the IU-NW goalkeeper with no chance.

Yet, ONU refused to relent. In the 66th minute, they emphatically sealed the victory with a third goal, when senior midfielder Sara Loichinger etched her name in the score sheet. Her goal put the match out of reach for the Redhawks. 

 

Looking Ahead

The Tigers are buzzing with excitement following this impressive win, and their eyes are firmly set on the horizon as they eagerly anticipate their next match. ONU is set to face the Governors State University Jaguars on Sept. 27th at Crown Point Sportsplex. Kickoff is 2:00 p.m CST.
