ONU FALLS 1-0 TO VITERBO IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE
LA CROSSE, Wis. – In a tight contest to close out the regular season, Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) men's soccer team fell to Viterbo University 1-0 on the road Saturday. The Tigers were unable to overcome an early goal from the V-Hawks and will now prepare to face them again in the upcoming Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) quarterfinals.
Viterbo struck quickly, finding the back of the net just over six minutes into the match. A quick counterattack and a precise finish gave the home team an early 1-0 lead, putting ONU on the defensive. The Tigers responded with intensity, pressing high and challenging for possession, but Viterbo's backline held firm. Despite several offensive pushes, ONU went into halftime without the equalizer.
In the second half, the Tigers pressed forward, intensifying their offensive efforts. ONU managed several looks on goal, applying pressure to Viterbo's defense, but they were unable to capitalize on their chances. The Viterbo defense stayed resolute, ultimately holding the Tigers scoreless in a close, hard-fought match.
Looking Ahead
