ONU WOMEN FINISH SIXTH AT BATTLE AT BLACKTHORN
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Three Tigers finished inside the top 30 to lead the Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Battle at Blackthorn played at Blackthorn Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
Taylor Ice was the top ONU finisher. She shot rounds of 83 and 86 for a 169 to end in a tie for 16th place. Lizzie Howard and Mya Jones finished within two strokes of each other, with the former carding a 175 (87-88) to tie for 24th and the latter firing a 177 (86-91) to claim 28th place.
Amelia Birge rounded out the scoring for ONU with a score of 188 after rounds of 95 and 93, finishing in a tie for 42nd. Bella Rosado was two strokes back at 190.
The Tigers finished the two-round tournament with a score of 704 to place sixth in the 11-team field. Host school Bethel (Ind.) took the team crown at 627.
ONU will now play in the Rock Hollow Tournament on Sept. 20-21 at the Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind.
