THREE UNANSWERED GOALS PUSH TIGERS THROUGH TO SEMIFINALS
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) women's soccer team secured a spot in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) semifinals with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Trinity Christian College at home on Wednesday. Despite a slow start and an early deficit, the Tigers rallied in the second half to claim the win and continue their postseason journey.
The Tigers found themselves in hot water early, as Trinity Christian managed to slip one past the ONU defense just five minutes into the game. Despite the early setback, the Tigers held strong, battling fiercely to regain control. ONU dominated possession and tested Trinity's defense multiple times, yet the first half closed with the Tigers trailing 1-0.
Fueled by halftime adjustments, ONU came out firing in the second half. Just a minute and a half in, Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano delivered a clinical finish to level the score at 1-1. With momentum on their side, the Tigers kept pressing, and Racadio-Kahoohanohano struck again in the 56th minute to give ONU a 2-1 lead. As time wound down, ONU's defense remained solid, shutting down Trinity's attempts to equalize. With only two minutes left on the clock, ONU added the finishing touch when Hannah Dela Vega found the back of the net, assisted by Melea Miller, securing a 3-1 scoreline. This late goal served as the icing on the cake, marking a dominant second-half performance and sending the Tigers through to the next round.
Looking Ahead
ONU will host the University of St. Francis in the CCAC semifinals on Nov. 9th at 6 p.m. CST. The Tigers will aim to bring the same intensity as they continue their push for the conference title.
