DEERFIELD, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball team picked up their third consecutive win as they defeated the Trojans of Trinity International in straight sets. Cade Ooms led the way for ONU leading the team in total attacks (17), kills (8), and points (11.0). The Tigers have now won five of their last six and already set a new program record for most wins in a single season with nine in only 12 matches played.
Olivet dominated the front end and the back end of their three sets against Trinity International. They outscored the hosts by a combined 50-13. The second set was the most tightly contested of the night. One of Oooms' two service aces of the night tied the score at 22-22 and sparked a 4-0 run. The freshman outside hitter recorded his second ace to finish the set in route to the match victory.
Jake Ostema was the most efficient hitter of the night converting seven of his nine total attacks for kills posting a game-high .778 hitting percentage. Jaiton Kamaunu registered 14 attacks on the night to bring his total matches with double-digit attacks to seven on the season.
As a team, ONU served six aces to TIU's one. James Ballance and Ooms each was credited with two while Thoralf Schmelzer and Tyler Rickert provided the other two. Tomas Gonzalez led the way doling out 15 of Olivet's 26 assists on the night. Ballance led the team with nine digs.
