ONU FALLS TO SAINT XAVIER ON THE ROAD

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball program fell to 14-10 in the Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference losing to Saint Xavier 8-5 on Tuesday. Robert Jackman drove in two runs while Kai Hudson scored twice in the loss.


The Cougars benefitted from an early 4-0 lead after two innings of play. Jackman and Garrett Mooney cut the deficit to one run driving in a combined three runs in the fourth inning. SXU would respond to stretch the lead to five runs scoring four unanswered between the fourth and 8th innings. The Tigers would spark a late rally scoring twice in the ninth inning but ultimately falling suffering from a total of six errors on the afternoon.


Thomas Burns was given the start and went 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. Kainoa Mane, Logan Marx, Noah Couch, and Noah Bradshaw made appearances in relief allowing two runs between the four pitchers. Jack Dupuis, Hudson, and Donovan Yelle recorded multiple hits on the day.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Tigers will close out the regular season with a three-game series against St. Francis (Ill.) this weekend. The Fighting Saints will host the opening game this Friday at DuPage Medical Group Field in Joliet, Ill. The series will conclude with a doubleheader at home this Saturday.
