FIVE SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN WIN OVER REDHAWKS

GARY, Ind.Tyler Schmidt led five players in double figures as the Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team cruised to an 82-70 win at Indiana Northwest Saturday afternoon.

Schmidt finished with 16 points, scoring 12 of them in a big first half that helped the Tigers to pick up their third-straight CCAC win.

Indiana Northwest (7-11, 6-5 CCAC) scored the first basket of the game, but Schmidt had the three-point answer on the following possession and the Tigers never looked back. Leading 15-11 six minutes into the action, ONU went on a 10-2 run to take control of the game. Two free throws from Schmidt ended the spurt that gave the Tigers a double-digit lead midway through the first half.

The Redhawks narrowed the deficit to three late in the first half, but ONU would score 11 unanswered points to close the half and entered the locker room with a 43-29 lead.

The Tigers extended their run into the second half with seven-straight points. The lead eventually ballooned to 29 after Daniel Murphy cashed in on a layup midway through the second half. Indiana Northwest pieced together a pair of runs to make the score respectable, but the outcome was never in doubt, with the Tigers rolling to an 82-70 win.

Landon Pflederer knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 15 points. Griffin Andricks and Braydon Flagg both came off the bench to chip in 12 each while Caleb Swearingen dropped in 11 points. This was the third game this season where five or more players finished in double figures.

The Tigers, now 14-5 overall and 9-2 in CCAC play, will return home to host Roosevelt Wednesday.
