SCHMIDT NETS 1,000th CAREER POINT AS TIGERS WIN BIG

MILWAUKEE, Wis.Tyler Schmidt scored his 1,000th career point to help the Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team to a convincing 101-63 road win over Cardinal Stritch Monday evening.

Needing 10 points entering the contest, Schmidt reached the milestone midway through the first half. He filled in nine quick points before getting fouled on his way to the rim. Schmidt hit the ensuing free throw, which marked his 1,000th career point in an ONU uniform.

Schmidt, who has played in 60 games for Olivet Nazarene, is the 48th player to score 1,000 points in program history.

He was also one of 11 Tigers to score in Monday's win, finishing with 16 points.

ONU took control early in the first half, opening the game up on an 11-3 run. Schmidt chipped in seven points in the stretch. Griffin Andricks then dropped in a layup to put the Tigers up 10. Cardinal Stritch (0-11, 0-5 CCAC) trailed by double-digits for the remainder of the contest.

The Tigers closed out the half with a season-best 56 first-half points. Sam Emich and Braydon Flagg scored 12 each to lead ONU to a 20-point lead at the break. The Tigers shot over 60-percent from the floor over the opening 20 minutes.

The starters would hit the bench after a Schmidt three-pointer put the Tigers up by 30 and the reserves closed out the big win, the team's seventh victory in a row.

The win keeps ONU a perfect 5-0 in CCAC play.
