TIGER MOVE TO JUST A GAME BACK IN THE CCAC AFTER SERIES WIN OVER TCC

PALOS HEIHTS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University baseball program (23-18, 13-7 CCAC) claim two games of a three-game series over the Trolls of Trinity Christian (19-19, 13-7 CCAC) on the weekend. After falling in the late innings of the contest on Friday, The Tigers bounced back to sweep both games of the Saturday doubleheader and move just a game behind conference-leading Saint Ambrose in the Chicago Athletic Collegiate Conference standings. Taylor Steig lead the team with five RBIs recorded with a home run in the three-game set.

ONU suffered a 12-8 loss in the weekend's first game on Friday evening. Robert Jackman tripled down the right field line to push Noah Couch across Homeplate to tie the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning. This would tie up the game for the first time. TCC would string four unanswered runs in the top of the ninth and held the Tigers without an answer.

Kai Hudson's game-winning base hit in extra innings lifted Olivet to a 5-4 win in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader. TCC used the long ball hitting three total home runs including the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the ballgame to extra innings. With two outs and men on second and third base, Hudson's single to second base scored Robert Jackman to ultimately win the game.

The Tigers claimed the second consecutive game of the day and won the series by defeating TCC 6-3. Steig's two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning proved the difference. The designated hitter now totals six wall-clearing blasts on the season and increased his RBI total to 43. ONU would tack on two insurance runs in the seventh inning on their way to victory. Thomas Plizga was credited with the win after four innings of work and Nolan Belschner recorded his first save of the year.
