TIGERS TOPPLE TRINITY AND PUNCH TICKET TO CCAC CHAMPIONSHIP

BOURBONNAIS, IL. - In an intense encounter at Snowbarger Athletic Complex on Wednesday, Olivet Nazarene University's men's soccer team secured their spot in the CCAC tournament final with a 2-1 win against Trinity Christian College in the semi-finals.

First Half: A Battle of Determination

The first half of the game was characterized by both teams displaying exceptional defensive prowess and tight midfield battles. ONU's sturdy defense, anchored by solid performances from the backline, prevented the Trolls from gaining the upper hand. TCC threatened a few times with well-executed set pieces and counterattacks, but ONU's sophomore goalkeeper, Patrick Dye, was resolute in his efforts to keep the score level.

Second Half: Tigers Emerge Victorious

The second half brought an electrifying atmosphere to the pitch as both teams sought to break the deadlock. The Tigers' relentless pursuit of victory paid off in the 53rd minute when senior defender Nick Kilian unleashed a powerful strike that found the back of the net, giving ONU a well-deserved lead.

ONU's second goal came just six minutes later, in the 59th minute, when freshman forward Joel Trueb capitalized on a precise assist from senior midfielder Holden Devore. Trueb's clinical finish doubled the Tigers' advantage. The Tigers were now in the driver's seat, and their intricate passing and off-the-ball movements troubled the Trolls. TCC made a late push to get back into the game. In the 62nd minute, they managed to pull one back, raising hopes for a comeback. The Tigers had to remain vigilant and maintain their composure to secure their hard-fought lead.

Despite a few more close calls from TCC, ONU's defense held strong. The final whistle signaled ONU's victory, and the Tigers could celebrate their hard-earned victory that booked their ticket to the CCAC championship.

Looking Ahead

With this impressive win, the Tigers are now eagerly looking forward to the upcoming CCAC championship match. ONU will host Roosevelt University at Snowbarger Athletic Complex on Nov. 11th. Kickoff is TBD.
