TIGERS’ WIN STREAK EXTENDS TO FIVE WITH WIN OVER USF

BOURBONNAIS, IL. – In a thrilling matchup at Snowbarger Athletic Complex, Olivet Nazarene University's men's soccer team emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win over the University of St. Francis on Saturday.

First Half: Nonnenmann Strikes First

The opening half of the game was marked by intense action on the field. Both teams displayed great defensive prowess, denying any early breakthroughs. However, in the 39th minute, senior midfielder Elias Nonnenmann seized an opportune moment and put one in the back of the net. Senior midfielder Holden Devore's impeccable assist set up the goal that sent the Tigers into halftime with a well-deserved lead.

Second Half: Dennis Doubles The Lead

As the second half commenced, the Fighting Saints were determined to level the score, launching several attacks on ONU's goal. Yet, the Tigers' defense held strong, thwarting every attempt by USF. In the 79th minute, ONU extended their lead when sophomore defender Josh Dennis executed a brilliant finish, capitalizing on an assist from senior defender Nick Kilian, further extending ONU's lead.

Despite trailing for most of the game, USF found their moment in the 84th minute when they managed to break through ONU's defense and score a goal of their own. However, goalkeeper Leonard Bewig and the Tiger defense held firm, denying any further attempts by USF to equalize. ONU secured their victory with a final score of 2-1.

The Tigers are thrilled with their hard-fought victory over the Fighting Saints. This win boosts their confidence and they're eagerly anticipating their next match, aiming to build on this success and maintain their winning streak.
